Igiko Management Tools 5.4

Igiko Management Tools 5.4 focuses on security and access control: a user action log, user invitations, two-factor authentication, and an interface that shows each user only what they have access to.

Highlights

  • Action log: who did what and when

  • User invitations by link or email and two-factor authentication (2FA)

  • Interface and remote console respect user permissions

  • Checkpoint (snapshot) count in the VM list

  • Performance counter diagnostics and a faster RDP console

New Features

Action log

The log opens from the user menu and records successful and failed actions: sign-in attempts, enabling and disabling 2FA, changes to users, groups and permissions, RDP, PowerShell and File Manager connections, and operations on Hyper-V hosts and VMs. Administrators see actions of all users; other users see only their own. Entries are kept for 30 days by default; the retention period is set with the ActionLogRetentionDays parameter in Igiko.exe.config.

User invitations

An administrator creates a user, assigns groups and permissions, and sends an invitation link — manually or by email from Igiko Management Tools (configure SMTP with the Edit SMTP button on the Users tab). The user sets their own password. Existing users can be invited too: their account is locked and their password and 2FA are reset until they follow the link.

Two-factor authentication

Sign-in can be protected with a one-time code from an authenticator app. 2FA can be made mandatory for specific users — they then set it up when activating their account.

Checkpoint count in the VM list

Add the Snapshots column to the VM table to sort and filter by the number of checkpoints — a quick way to find VMs with forgotten snapshots.

Performance counter diagnostics

VM diagnostics now check that performance counter categories and counters exist and suggest how to fix any problems found. When VM charts are empty, administrators see a link to run diagnostics.

Excluding VMs from management via Hyper-V notes

A VM can be marked as Unmanaged by adding the Igiko:NotLicensedInstance tag to the VM's Notes field in Hyper-V.

Improvements

Permission-aware interface

RDP, PowerShell and File Manager tabs appear only when the user has remote access permission for the selected object. The Events tab, the Virtual Machines menu item and the alert rule tabs are hidden for users without permissions on hosts or VMs.

Easier VM permission management

The VM permissions table now has a User column with filtering, sorting and grouping, a Host address column (hidden by default), and expandable rows that list the granted permissions. The new permission dialog groups VMs by host.

Table settings

Host, VM and permission tables now have a reset layout button. Table settings and the Quick menu are saved per user, even on a shared browser.

Faster RDP console

The in-browser RDP console is faster, and a new setting optimizes RDP connections over slow links. The console also scales to the window size.

More reliable monitoring

CPU and network charts are more stable, including on remote hosts with dedicated credentials.

Other improvements

Page scrolling no longer gets stuck over dashboard widgets and log tabs; SMTP settings can be reset; non-administrators see only the product version in global settings.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed RDP connection errors and switching between multiple open RDP sessions.

  • Fixed connecting to the built-in PowerShell console.

  • Online VM and host counts on the dashboard now include only objects the user has permissions on.

  • Permission table settings persist after a page reload; Edit, Pause and Delete VM permissions are displayed correctly.

  • The Quick menu and the alert rules bottom menu now work for users without host permissions.

  • The installer now keeps an already activated license during upgrade; fixed the installation path.
